A quest to complete the 5 Vermont 4000 footers before leaving for the Appalachian Trail.
My goal was three day hikes in one day and a peak bag the next. On the first day, I was successful summiting Mt Killington in the morning, Camel’s Hump in the afternoon but on my evening hike of Mt Mansfield I decided to turn back about a mile from the summit with dusk setting in, water limited, and lungs taxed from inhaling wildfire smoke.
The following day was slow and tough going up to Mt. Abraham. Fortunately finding a mountain spring to load up on water enabled me to finish Mt Ellen. In that two day trip I hiked 4.5 out of 5 mountains so I headed home feeling happy.

Have a fantastic trek, Zac!! Looking forward to seeing your posts! Aunt Carmen
